General: Area 41 is comprised of seven counties in Central East Tennessee including Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Knox, and Union. Also, included in Area 41 are four State owned Wildlife Management Areas and two public hunting areas providing over 200,000 acres of public hunting and multiple use land. Area 41 personnel performed outstandingly during the 2004 - 2005 fiscal year; inspecting 4965 hunters and fishermen resulting in 470 arrests or citations and the issuance of 85 warning citations. While inspections and arrests were down about one third from the previous year due to three positions in the area being vacant for almost one year, area personnel have performed exceptional work. A summary of that activity is listed below. 2005 Hunting and Fishing Citations:
Boating: Area 41 personnel are responsible for boating enforcement on Norris Reservoir and portions of Cherokee, Fort Loudoun, and Melton Hill Reservoirs. Also included in Area 41 are over 30-miles of free flowing river. Area 41 enforcement effort can be classified into categories including patrol, investigative, marine events and non-enforcement activities. Area 41 personnel conducted 2988 marine inspections and or vessel boardings resulting in 276 arrests/citations and issued 146 warning citations. Personnel also patrolled state owned access areas conducting 1502 public contacts and affecting an additional 76 citations and/or arrests. They actively investigated 23 boating accidents, affixed 23 state issued HINS, conducted 40 MSD inspections and inspected all known boat liveries within the area. 2005 Boating Enforcement Summary:
